Our summer fete was in support of the British Heart Foundation and was open to our parents, children and our local community. A variety of stalls and entertainment for adults and children was on offer. A huge thank you to our lovely parents who came to help and support us. We managed to raise an impressive £1040.

Visit from the fire engine

APRIL 2016

Our children were treated to an exhilarating visit from the Fire Department of High Wycombe on Friday. Team members Stu, Neil, Phil, and Alex delighted our under 5 year olds to a rousing hose-the-cone competition, after letting everybody climb up into the fire engine to try on the heavy helmets and have a tour. The staff encourage a deep understanding about the wider community and the services that they provide, and the visit from the fire engine fitted perfectly with this month’s learning themes. The children (and staff!) had a brilliant time, and we all took away a fun and memorable experience.

Trip to the Local woods to see bluebells

APRIL 2016

At Turville we are very fortunate as we are surrounded by beautiful countryside at our door step. Our children love being outdoors and enjoy local walks. Our trip to find bluebell in local woods was a success, as we found a carpet of bluebells just as we walked to the woods at the end of the village. The children enjoyed following the path into the woods and being surrounded by bluebells on both sides of the path. They looked at different colours, listened to the birds, and played different games.

Our lovely mummies were invited to join the children for breakfast and enjoy sultana scones, strawberry jam and Cornish cream. It was such a great fun morning.

Farm trip

MARCH 2016

Our day started with a school minibus trip to the farm. Children had an exciting bus journey and sang “Wheels on the bus go round and round…” At the farm children learnt about lamb’s wool and what it is used for. They also had an opportunity to stroke baby lambs and watch them being fed. Afterwards everyone was allowed to play outside and stroke other animals.

At Turville we love to keep busy and to go out and about on walks to our local woods or our famous Vicar of Dibley church. Our calendar is packed with a variety of events and activities for all age groups.

Please have a look at what we have done so far this year.

Rugby day

MARCH 2016

Our six nation’s day was a hit! Our children wore a rugby shirt and learnt how to score a try, how to throw the ball and how to do a goal kick. The children’s favourite thing was learning how to do a line out.

Thank you to Abbey Rugby Club for letting us borrow some of their balls.

Chick hatching programme

FEBRUARY 2016

Turville nursery took part in a life cycle education program that enabled children to see chicks hatching from their eggs. It was a practical experience showing the miracle of birth and it provided an opportunity to cater for and learn how to handle a new born baby chick.

The experience started with the delivery of 10 fertilised eggs in an incubator, which were about 2 days off hatching. Children witnessed the hatching and watched our chicks develop to the next stage over the period of 2 weeks. All our chicks were named by our children and staff and went to a lovely new homes afterwards.
